🗓 Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Ollantaytambo
Our team picks you up at your specified location for a scenic drive through the Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo. If you arrive early, explore the ancient village and begin acclimatizing.
Day 2: Journey to Vilcabamba
After breakfast, we begin our drive to Vilcabamba, passing through lush jungle and high mountains. Optional: a thrilling 60 km downhill bike ride from Abra Malaga to Huamanmarca. We’ll settle into a family-run lodge for 3 nights in this hidden corner of the Andes.
Day 3: Visit Yurac Rumi and Vitcos Fortress
Begin with a hike to Yurac Rumi, a sacred Inca monolith carved with intricate symbols. Continue to the Vitcos archaeological complex—an ancient Inca palace with spectacular views and masterful stonework. In the afternoon, we’ll visit the old town of Vilcabamba and its colonial church.
Day 4: Hike to Inka Tambo
A full-day adventure! We hike deep into the mountains on preserved Inca trails toward Inka Tambo, an ancient site known for its strategic location and architectural design. The 16 km round-trip hike takes around 7–8 hours through pristine landscapes rich in biodiversity.
Day 5: Travel to Hidroelectrica and Hike to Machu Picchu Town
We leave Vilcabamba and drive to Santa Maria, then continue to Hidroeléctrica. From here, we enjoy a scenic 2-hour hike along train tracks and jungle paths to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town), where we’ll stay overnight in a hotel.
Day 6: Visit Machu Picchu
Explore the legendary citadel of Machu Picchu with your guide, understanding its full cultural and spiritual context after walking the Inca’s historical path. In the afternoon, return by train to Ollantaytambo or directly to Cusco if needed.
Day 7: Return to Cusco
Enjoy a peaceful morning in Ollantaytambo before heading to Cusco. If time allows, visit Cusco’s Historic Center and the vibrant San Pedro Market.
