Day 1: Ollantaytambo – Cachora – Capulilloc – Chiquisca Camp

We depart at 6:00 a.m. by private transport to Cachora (5-hour journey). After a short rest and snack stop, we continue to the trailhead where our horses await. After lunch with views of the Apurimac Canyon, we hike downhill for 4 hours to Chiquisca Camp (1900 m / 6240 ft), a scenic site overlooking the canyon and glacier.

Day 2: Chiquisca – Marampata – Choquequirao Base Camp

We begin early at 5:00 a.m. to avoid the midday sun. After a 1-hour descent to the river, we climb for 4–6 hours, stopping at Santa Rosa for snacks and water. Lunch at Marampata (2885 m / 9470 ft), then a 1–2 hour hike to the base camp near Choquequirao.

Day 3: Full Day at Choquequirao Fortress

We spend the day exploring Choquequirao. Despite being a “rest” day, the site is vast, and moving between areas takes time. We carry lunch in our packs to maximize exploration. Return to Marampata to camp.

Day 4: Marampata – Chiquisca

After breakfast with canyon views, we descend to the Apurimac River, then begin the climb back up to Chiquisca Camp helped by the cool canyon breeze.

Day 5: Chiquisca – Capulilloc – Cachora – Ollantaytambo/Cusco

Another early start helps us avoid the strong sun. After a scenic climb and lunch at the summit with full trail views, we hike to the pickup point for our return to Ollantaytambo or Cusco.
