Pumahuanca to Lares Hot Springs Trek | 3-Day Andes Hike from Ollantaytambo
A spectacular hike for high-mountain forest lovers. Cross one of the highest peaks of the Sacred Valley, Pumahuanca, at over 4500 m / 14,200 ft to reach the Inca hot springs of Lares.

Day 1: Ollantaytambo – Urubamba – Pumahuanca
We meet at our office in Ollantaytambo (pickup at your hotel is also possible). Then we head to the Pumahuanca basin in Urubamba. The hike begins through a beautiful valley with native forests of queuñas and chachacomas, where humidity rises as we gain altitude.
We reach a small community on the slopes of the Pumahuanca glacier and set up camp for the night, where a warm dinner awaits.
Day 2: Crossing Pumahuanca – Chupani – Lares Hot Springs
After breakfast, we begin our ascent around the Pumahuanca pass and descend to Chupani. We’ll enjoy breathtaking views and alpine lakes along the way. The day ends at the Lares hot springs, where we relax in one of the warmest and most therapeutic baths in Cusco.
Day 3: Lares – Ollantaytambo
A relaxing morning followed by a scenic drive over mountain ridges back to Ollantaytambo. Along the way, we visit important Quechua communities like Wakawasi, Patacancha, and Willoc, who preserve vibrant cultural traditions.
Back in Ollantaytambo, we’ll help you reach your hotel or connect with your next trip.
