🚶 Ollantaytambo – Cachiccata Quarries (5 km)
We begin the hike from Ollantaytambo, heading towards the Inka stone quarries of Cachiccata. Along the way, we observe large unfinished stones and signs of ancient quarry work that supplied materials for the sacred sites of Ollantaytambo.
🥾 Cachiccata – Inti Punku (3 km)
The trail continues to Inti Punku (Sun Gate), a remarkable site believed to be used for astronomical observations. The summit offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Sacred Valley. We will enjoy a break here, eat our box lunch, and take photos.
⬇️ Inti Punku – Cachiccata Community (4 km)
We descend on a different path to the community of Cachiccata, passing by mysterious stone dwellings and ancient agricultural terraces that reflect the ingenuity of the Incas.
🚶 Cachiccata – Ollantaytambo (2 km)
The last 2 kilometers are on an easy trail back to Ollantaytambo. Optional shuttle transport is available for $10 per person.
