7 Days Journey the Cusco amazon and The last city of the Inkas

This trip is designed for travelers who want to get out of the tourist routine and explore the deepest part of the history and culture of the Incas and part of the Cusquenian Amazon.

  • Day 1: Arrival and pick-up

Our designated staff will be ready to pick you up at the place you indicate in advance to take you through the Sacred Valley to the town of Ollantaytambo where our hotel is located.

If you arrive early to Ollantaytambo, you can take advantage of the opportunity to visit the Inca village and have time to acclimatize.

  • Day 2: Drive to Quillabamba Visit the parks and Museum

The best way to explore the last Inca citadel is to walk through the highest mountains and along the Amazonian ridge.

After a delicious breakfast at the recommended time (9:00 am) we leave Ollantaytambo in the direction of Quillabamba, an Amazonian city in the Cusco region, here we will settle into our hotel and then we will explore the city and visit its main tourist attractions, including a visit to the local museum.

An optional and adventurous activity: cycling one of the longest descents to Quillabamba, a 60 km ride on asphalt roads.

  • Day 3: the coffee farm and Chocolate Production

A new day in the Cusco Amazon enjoying its pleasant climate and the surrounding nature! This city has a lot of cultural and agronomic diversity which makes it an important place for the region. Here we will visit a family farm where we will be shown the work of coffee and cocoa, two emblematic products of this área.

Continuing our tour we will visit a waterfall that is between the mountains of Maranura, the walk is light and 1 hour, approximately, to reach the first waterfall and 20 minutes more to reach the second waterfall. This place is beautiful because of the flora and fauna that surrounds it.

  • Day 4: Departure to Vilcabamba Visit Yurac Rumi and Vitcos

We will leave from the city of Quillabamba in the direction of Vilcabamba through a ravine that leads us to the Andes, again. This part of the trip will be done in our transport and has a duration of 3 hours, with stops at different points to know and enjoy the richness that surrounds it, it will also allow us to feel the changes in the bioclimatic floors, going from warm to cold when ascending above 3000 meters above sea level.

Upon arrival in Vilcabamba we will settle into our family hostel to begin our exploration of the main tourist attractions. We will start by Yurac Rumi, a megalithic piece sculpted by the Incas with different petroglyphs that has an astronomical connection; the other point to visit is the Vitcos Fortress, a palace built on top of a hill with a spectacular panoramic view and a perfect Inca architecture within its walls that make the place impressive and wonderful.

  • Day 5: Inka tambo Hike

It could be said that this is the longest day of the whole trip because it involves a hike full of adventure in search of Inka Tambo, a place in the middle of the hills in the deepest part of the mountain. During the hike we will cross Inca trails until we reach the entrance of the basin from where we can notice an Inca trail of well preserved stones that leads us to Inka Tambo, an Inca construction of great importance due to the shape of its structure and its geographical location.

The hike is approximately 16 km round trip, with a duration of 7 to 8 hours depending on the pace of the group, the views of the entire route are incredible, full of flora and fauna that cover the mountain.

  • Day 6: Drive back to Ollantaytambo

After an adventure among the Cusco Amazon we will return to Ollantaytambo or Cusco depending on your choice or your next connecting trip. Our car will leave at 9:00 am and we will have a return trip of approximately 6 hours; on the way we will have several stops to appreciate places that we do not know yet and to make our trip dynamic.

The trip from Ollantaytambo to Cusco is 1.5 hours more.
