Happy freeride is created for freeriders who like to go on new trails sharing the culture and customs of the high Andean communities, enjoying accessible and fun freeride trails in the different areas of the Sacred Valley of the Incas on the way to the wonder of the modern world: Machu Picchu.

Day 1: Pick up from Cusco – Airport

Our driver and guide will be waiting for you at the indicated place to take you to the Inca town of Ollantaytambo, where we will spend the following days; our hotel is quiet and comfortable, which will help you relax every day after returning from the different descents.

According to the itinerary of your arrival, this day in the afternoon you can take a bike ride on a circuit designed by us to show you closely what surrounds the Inca town of Ollantaytambo.

Day 2: Moray – Maras and salt mines – Maras 2

After breakfast and ready to start our adventure in the mountains, we will depart at 9:00 am for our first mountain biking experience in the Sacred Valley. We will start from Misminay, bordering the Moray Archaeological Complex and enjoying the majestic privileged views. Our tour extends from Moray to the town of Maras where we will have a short break to enjoy the main square.

Our next descent will be to the salt mines of Salineras which are located in the canyon that connects with the Vilcanota River. The salt mines provide us with a quiet and fun descent, allowing us to get a close look at pre-Inca salt production.

The second part of the day consists of the descent of the Maras 2 circuit, a sister descent to the one we did in the morning, but with a higher level of difficulty going through beautiful valleys and canyons of the Maras district with a happy ending on the banks of the Vilcanota River (Willka Mayu).

Day 3: Patalares – Abra Lares

This will be a day of adventure in the mountains knowing the living culture of the communities that settle in the basin at more than 4000 meters above sea level, colorful indigenous communities descendants of the Incas. This day we will have a descent from the highest part of the community of Wakawasi to the hot springs of Lares, it is a mixed descent between landscapes of grass, stones and stone stairs.

Upon arrival at the hot springs of Lares you will have free time to enjoy a bath in the medicinal waters that have different pools and temperature to make our visit cozy.

We will have a scheduled lunch after the visit to the hot springs.

Continuing with the itinerary we will climb to 4400 m.a.s.l. to make a descent through a varied Inca trail that connects with the plaza of the Province of Calca, this descent is liked by most visitors for its dynamic and accessible descent for all MTB lovers.

Day 4: Abra Málaga – Pumamarca

During this day we will know one of the routes of the largest competition in Peru and the world, the Inka Avalanche, which descends from 4440 meters above sea level by the slopes of the Veronica glacier (Wakay Willca) to the community of Tanccac which is located in the lower part at 2900 meters above sea level. This route has a distance of 16 km, which is summarized in a descent of approximately 1500 meters above sea level, for this reason it is one of the descents that you should know.

After spending the morning in the basin enjoying the descents, we will go for a delicious lunch to help us recover energy to continue enjoying the MTB.

In the afternoon we are scheduled to do the Pumamarca ride, one of the most beloved routes by the riders of the town, after having ridden there you will know why so much affection for the route. This road goes straight down to the town of Ollantaytambo, which makes it a bit of urban cycling through its streets full of Inca records.

Day 5: Machu Picchu

Many people hope to fulfill the dream of visiting Machu Picchu, so this day will be completely dedicated to the visit to learn about the mysteries of this enigmatic Inca monument.

The departure will be very early in the morning to take the train that will take you to the Machu Picchu village station where the assigned guide will be waiting for you in order to take you to the bus terminal that goes up to the Machu Picchu Mountain to make the official entrance to the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu; here there are 4 different routes, depending on your request we will have it reserved, however, the most popular route is the one that includes the mountain of Huaynapicchu, so you should book well in advance due to its popularity

Day 6: Chinchero 1 – Raqchi or Lamay 1 y 2

On our penultimate day in the Sacred Valley we will continue to know new lines and enjoy them; today we have in particular 2 options according to the motivation of the group and their physical condition, since both have different intensities and formats with respect to the terrain of the route.

Option 1: Chinchero 1 – Raqchi

Chinchero is known for its Inca trail through the canyon to the Urquillos Valley which is full of Inca steps that make the descent exciting and active at all times, the 2 routes have different intensities, but are similar in time and distance.

Option 2: Lamay 1 y 2

The first descent of Lamay is very similar to the terrain of day 2 and 3, but in a totally different basin at 4300 m.a.s.l., with a descent of approximately 17 km until we return to the car and climb a little to connect with section 2 that takes us to the village of Lamay.

Day 7: Return to Cusco or Optional Ride Yuncaypata – Cusco

Our first option is designed for those who have to return during the day to Cusco and need to have everything ready to take their next travel connection. The car will be available at the time required, just confirm in advance to avoid any inconvenience with the time. The second option is aimed at those who have time available, so we recommend a couple more descents on the way to Cusco and inside Cusco, with a bike ride to the center of the city to close with a flourish the adventure of having been in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Cusco, Peru.
