Outdoor: Explore Pumahuanca Lares hotspring

A spectacular hike for lovers of the high Andean forests, crossing one of the highest mountains of the Sacred Valley: Pumahuanca, and walking over 4500 masl / 14200 ft, to arrive at the Inca hot springs of the town of Lares.

Day 1: Ollantaytambo – Urubamba – Pumahuanca

To start the hike we will meet at our office in Ollantaytambo (you can also coordinate the pick up at another point), then we will go to the entrance of the Pumahuanca basin which is located in the province of Urubamba. From here we will hike through a beautiful basin full of forests of native trees, such as Queuñas and Chachacomas; as we ascend we will perceive the humidity due to rainfall. This day we will walk to a small community located on the slopes of Nevado Pumahuanca to camp the first night and enjoy the dinner organized by the team to recover energy.

Day 2: We will wake up early to have a delicious breakfast and start our ascent to the Pumahuanca mountain, surround it and descend to the community of Chupani. On the way we will have beautiful views of the entire valley and beautiful lakes that make this hike unique and recommended.

This day we will arrive at the hot springs of Lares where we will make ourselves comfortable to enjoy one of the hottest waters in Cusco, used by many locals as therapeutic water for the body.

Day 3: Lares – Ollantaytambo

This will be a leisurely day in our transportation over the mountain tops to surround and descend to the Inca village of Ollantaytambo. On the way we will have the opportunity to meet important communities such as Wakawasi, Patacancha and Willoc, who protect and preserve their colorful cultural identity and live in harmony with nature. Arriving in Ollantaytambo, we will take you to your hotel or connect you with your next trip, for which our guide will be at your disposal.
