7 Days Multisport Adventure to Machu Picchu

This trip has everything an adventurous traveler is looking for on his way to see the wonder of the modern world hidden between the Andes Mountains and the Amazon jungle: Machu Picchu.

  • Day 1: Arrival and Pick-up

Pick up from the airport or wherever you tell us to take you to our hotel located in Ollantaytambo, a place with less altitude than Cusco, which makes the acclimatization process more comfortable and less likely to have altitude sickness or soroche.

  • Day 2: City Tour Ollantaytambo

The best way to start enjoying your vacation is to explore the Inca town of Ollantaytambo and learn about its history and the architectural marvels of the Inca era that make the town interesting and an important place in history.

  • Day 3: Hiking Day to Inti Punku or Pumamarca

Inti Punku: The hike to Inti Punku is an advanced level with an 8 km ascent to the summit and can last between 3 to 5 hours up and 2 to 3 hours down. This hike can be a challenge in the Andes, but with many rewards such as the panoramic views of the Valley, the stone quarries of Cachiccata, the construction of raqays and tambos until reaching the top where the Sun Gate or Inti Punku is located, a particular enclosure located on top of the mountain in a strategic astronomical point that has the view of the most important Apus as the Apu Waqay Willke (snowy Veronica), Yanayoc Orqo, Wawayoc Orqo and the mountain of Pinkuylluna.

Pumamarca: If you are looking for a quieter day we recommend you to do the hike to Pumamarca with a distance of 21 km, but the difference is made by the road, which is a not so steep slope to the top of Pumamarca, this hike has a duration of between 3 to 5 hours uphill and 1 to 2 hours downhill, depending on the pace of the group.

In this hike we can appreciate a basin full of Inca agricultural terraces that cover the mountain as if it were a mantle, this area was special for its strategic location and the variation of the microclimate in the same basin, for this same reason is that you can find different types of products planted according to the height and location as we can also find food deposits known as qolqas.

  • Day 4: biking day to Machu Picchu

This day is quiet but full of adventure because we will get on our bicycles to make a descent of more than 1800 m of slope in the direction of the Amazon rainforest.

We will leave at 9:00 am from our hotel in the direction of Abra Malaga from where we will begin the MTB adventure to the town of Huamanmarca, which is approximately 60 km of pure descent on paved road. This descent is very pleasant because it crosses different thermal floors, from the highest ones that are humid and cold with little vegetation to the jungle brow that is full of forests and has a warm climate.

  • Day 5: Multi activity in Santa teresa to Machu Picchu town

Santa Teresa – Hidroeléctrica – Machu Picchu Pueblo

  • Zip Line Santa Teresa in the morning (Optional, not included).
  • Hike from Hidroeléctrica to Machu Picchu village with a duration of 2 to 3 hours depending on the pace of the group (if you do not like walking you can take the train which is also optional for an additional cost of $ 28 (USD) per person).

Waking up in the high jungle with birds singing and the soothing sound of the river is priceless, it is simply an unforgettable experience.

In the morning we will have breakfast at the scheduled time and then we will go for another adventure and visit the longest and most extensive Zip Line in area (this part of the tour is optional, it is not included in the price) but if you do not want, we offer a quieter option such as staying at the lodge and rest or walk around the surroundings knowing the coffee plantations. The Tyrolean tour normally lasts from 2 to 3 hours depending on the movement and number of passengers. After having enjoyed a morning full of adrenaline or great rest we will have lunch in Hidroeléctrica in our favorite restaurant (Gabriel’s hut) and then we will do some exercises to train our feet in a 2 to 3 hours walk from Hidroeléctrica to Machu Picchu village to be prepared.

If you feel you can not make the hike there is the option to take the train from Hidroelectrica to Machu Picchu village, there are only two schedules: in the morning very early 7:30 am and in the afternoon at 2 pm or 3 pm, but it all depends on how you feel. The road is flat and smooth, it goes next to the railway line and the Urubamba River with views of the mountain of Machu Picchu.

Note* Our guide will provide you with all the necessary or requested tickets for your visit to the citadel of Machu Picchu (bus ticket, entrance ticket to Machu Picchu and train ticket).
